Researches have found an electronic paper which changes color when voltage is applied. Plasmonic nanostrucutures which are commonly used in solar cells for light absorption is used with polymer to produce this paper. this nanostructre is a potential replacement for dyes. Researches say that is paper will be similar to a kindle tablet.
The construction of the plasmonic nanostructures consist of 3 solid films.
The construction of the plasmonic nanostructures consist of 3 solid films.
- 150-nm-thick Ag(silver) film is deposited on the substrate for a high-base reflection.
- alumina spacer layer is to tune the reflective color.
- nanoholes are arranged into a 20-nm-thick gold film.
- By altering the thickness primary colors can be produced
